Lights up on Kit, a struggling – not starving, but hungry – artist trying to make it big in Hollywood with their original script, "Titanic II: Here We Go Again!" Their big break comes when an all-powerful executive agrees to produce their film – on one condition: that the executive’s child, a washed up, stuck-up child actor named Baby Kingsley, star in the leading role. When Baby Kingsley throws a tantrum, Kit’s best friend Blaire gets jealous, and the executive steals creative control, chaos ensues at a 5-6-7-8. Will this movie float to the top or sink to the bottom? Can celebrities drink any kind of baby’s blood to stay young forever? How many times can the fourth wall be broken before it’s unsalvageable? Find out in Mask and Wig’s 136th Annual Production: Once Upon a Crime in Hollywood!

Learn how quack medicine of the past can help us identify medical misinformation today.
Medical history is full of “miracle cures”; concoctions that promised total health with dubious evidence of effectiveness. While the issues wrought by these products eventually led to the formation of the FDA, that has not stoped advertisers from using people’s health fears to market products, especially on less regulated platforms like social media.
In this workshop, we'll explore examples of historic patent and quack medicine, analyze the rhetorical tactics used to market these products, and then apply our analysis to user-generated social media content promoting health products. Additionally, participants will learn how to track down and analyze articles cited as medical evidence in social media content, as well as where to go for reliable, evidence-based health information online.
Location: Gershwind & Bennett Family Collaborative Classroom
Registration is required.

No Script? No Problem! is a lively meta-showbiz comedy about a group of high school students tasked with creating an original production for their theater class's annual musical, packed with humor, heart, and a healthy dose of musical mayhem. With clashing personalities, amateur-at-best proposals, and a sudden surprise that puts our protagonists on a strict timeline, will they rise to the occasion to save the school musical?
