About Frank Garcia-Ornelas:
Frank Garcia-Ornelas is a proud first-generation college graduate, higher education leader, and the inaugural Associate Director of Brown University’s Bridge Scholars Program. Raised in Kansas City, Frank’s path from a first-gen student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City to earning his Master of Social Work from Boston College laid the foundation for a career rooted in access, equity, and student empowerment. Over the past decade, he’s held key roles at institutions including Boston College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Brown, designing programs that center belonging, leadership, and success for students from historically excluded communities.
At Brown, Frank created the Bridge Scholars Program, a six-week summer bridge program supporting first-generation and low-income students through credit-bearing courses, mentorship, and holistic support. Affectionately known as “Tío Frank” by students, he leads with heart, authenticity, and an unshakable belief in the brilliance of those who often go unseen.
His story is a testament to what’s possible when we break barriers and build the programs he once needed but didn't have access to.

The Theatre Arts Program at the University of Pennsylvania presents:
365 Days / 365 Plays
by Suzan-Lori Parks
Directed by Dr. Margit Edwards
Bruce Montgomery Theatre
Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts
Three performers take on 20+ characters in 45 minutes with a performance that asks: who controls the narrative? In 2003, playwright Suzan-Lori Parks tasked herself with writing a play a day, sometimes two. We have curated ten of those pieces to present for our 21st year at the festival – featuring goddesses, exiled kings, writers, muses, and some regular folks. By writing a play daily, Parks reflected on the year she lived and on the world at that historical moment. What is amazing is how relevant many of those reflections remain today.
Catch this fast-paced production in the Bruce Montgomery Theatre before we tour to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2025.
*A public reception with the cast and crew will follow the Friday, April 25th 8:15pm performance.
The Excelano Project, Penn's premier spoken word poetry collective, is thrilled to present their Spring 2025 show: Coffee at Noon? Come listen to our talented poets perform their original pieces in the Penn Museum's Rainey Auditorium on Friday, April 25th at 8 PM and Saturday, April 26th at 6 PM.

CityStep Penn connects with middle school students in West Philadelphia through dance and arts-based mentorship. Our annual end-of-year performance celebrates the work we've done with our students over the school year while showcasing their fantastic dance moves. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, our teachers and students are excited to present: Homecoming.
Transience is a reflection on impermanence, an exploration of the fleeting wonders of the natural world. In four sections, the show explores the delicate cycle of existence—from the blossoming of flowers, to rainfall, to tidal waves. It lingers in the warmth of human connection, in laughter and joy, and follows the silent arcs of migrating birds, carried across endless skies. In each moment, beauty emerges and dissolves, reminding us that all things must pass, yet in their passing, they leave traces—echoes of movement, memory, and meaning.
