Audiobook narration, along with the audiobook industry itself, has experienced unprecedented growth in the past few years, and, thereby, so have the opportunities for actors with solid vocal technique and a love for books. This workshop will lay out the basics of this discrete section of the publishing and entertainment industry, as well as how to commute the acting training and experience you already have into consistent and/or complimentary work, within a diversified actor's career. We will review industry standards (technical and network-wise) and narration performance technique, while exploring what makes for good storytelling in every context.

Please come with one page of a favorite book (of any type of genre) to use for group coaching. Be familiar with the text, but please don't prep it for performance.

Co-sponsored with the Platt Student Performing Arts House as part of the Theatre Arts @ Platt workshop series. Other workshops in Fall 2022: 11/11 Acting for the Camera and 12/2 Black Dance.
