Euripides' Medea is a 5th-century Greek play about a woman who reckons with plans of revenge against her husband who has suddenly left her and their two young children for a more politically promising marriage. Medea is left without many options in a country that is foreign to her– Medea is a refugee, a victim of the God's meddling, and now an abandoned wife and mother. In the end, she makes a fatal decision to punish Jason and completely sever the ties between him and herself. The play is a radical take on the extremes that systems of dominance force out of oppressed peoples
